The Cashmere Shop takes your security and privacy seriously. We respect your right to the privacy and security of your data. To that end, we collect and use information throughout our website only as disclosed below.
Protecting your order information is a priority for us. We use the industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect the security of your online order information.
To check the security of your connection, look at the lower right-hand corner of your browser window after beginning checkout. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending on your browser), then SSL is active and the server is secure. You can also double-check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from "http" to "https."
Some versions of browsers and some firewalls don't permit communication through secure servers. In that case, you won't be able to connect to the server and therefore won't be able to place an order through a secure connection. 1. What information do we collect about you?
Personally Identifiable Information:
The Cashmere Shop collects personally identifiable information from you only with your knowledge and consent.
When you make a purchase, we ask for your name, address, phone number, email address and other personal information necessary to fulfill and track your order. For purposes of billing, you will need to provide your credit card type, number, expiration date and billing address for the card. If your order is to be shipped, we also need the name, address and phone number of the intended recipient(s).
We also require you to create an account by providing your email address and designating a unique access password for future access to your account information on the Cashmere Shop website. Creating this account allows you to track the status of your orders, as well as save your billing information so you won't have to fill out that information again the next time you make a purchase on our site. To ensure that your user name and password remain confidential, DO NOT share this information with anyone.
For your privacy and security, we do not store credit card numbers in your account.
You may change saved account information at anytime. Simply go to the My Account page, log in with your email address and password, and then click on "Personal Profile."
Non-Personally Identifiable Information:
We collect non-personally identifiable information from you in order for us to better understand how our website is used. Information about a user's visit is logged, however your IP address is never referenced to personally identifiable information. Usage statistics are gathered in a non-intrusive manner. The log files are private documents and are primarily used by the server administrator for error notification, server administration and to monitor website performance. Occasionally, portions of the log files may be viewed by others for the purpose of server administration, security or when required by law.
2. Cookies:
When you visit thecashmereshop.com, small text files known as "cookies" will be stored on your computer's hard drive. We customize certain Web page content based on your browser-type or other information provided by our cookie. The Cashmere Shop does not use cookies to retrieve personal information about you from your computer. If you reject the cookie, you will still be able to browse our site; however, you will be unable to use our shopping cart and purchase items. This is because cookies are required by the shopping cart to retain the necessary information to process your order. If you disable cookies, The Cashmere Shop will be unable to accept your order online.
3. Is information shared with third parties?
We do not rent, sell or exchange your name or other personally-identifiable information to third-party companies for any purposes. Under no circumstances will your personal information be disclosed to any third party unless we seek your express consent or are required to do so by law.
4. The Cashmere Shop Email Mailing List
When you sign up to our email mailing list, we will use your email address to send you an email newsletter, once every couple of months, containing products and promotions.
Each newsletter will contain simple instructions on how to unsubscribe (opt-out) from the newsletter list. Each newsletter will also contain a link that will allow you to log in to the email system and change the current data so that you are always in control of the information you provide.
We are staunch supporters of the Canadian Federal Privacy Legislation. We never exchange, lend or sell our email mailing list to anyone! Information submitted to us is only available to employees managing this information for purposes of sending you emails and to contracted service providers for purposes of providing services relating to our communications with you.
Email statistics are monitored in order to ensure that the mailings are relevant for you. We will never share, sell, or rent this information to anyone. This information is only used for our own internal purposes.
5. Linking to other websites:
The Cashmere Shop sometimes provides links to other websites. Unless we expressly say otherwise, a link to another website does not mean that we are responsible for, or that we endorse the content or policy of that website. When you provide information at one of those sites, you are subject to that site's privacy policy. We encourage you to read that website's policy before submitting any information if you have concerns about how information may be collected or used.
