The Summer Edit

Summer has arrived, and with it comes the annual return to our favourite traditions.

Cottage time! The trip officially begins at Weber's, where burgers and fries are consumed (+ hot dogs) beside the trains, just as they have been for decades. Some things never change. The sun is strong in the line up (always a line up), but the fries are still worth the wait, and now we're watching our own kids experience the magic.

Cottage life quickly settles in.

There are boat rides to visit friends, dock hangs that somehow turn into entire afternoons.

Skinny dips in the cold lake. Everyone knows the lake is freezing. Yet in we go anyway, screaming as though this shocking development was entirely unexpected.

Evenings bring cooler temperatures and the return of cashmere. Because while it's technically summer, we're still Canadian and fully prepared to complain about being cold by 9 p.m.

The cards come out. Rules are debated. Accusations of cheating are made. Lifelong friendships somehow survive.

And then there's the campfire. Marshmallows are roasted, s'mores are assembled, and I continue to maintain my position as a leading s'more expert. IFKYK! It's a title I've awarded myself, but I stand by it.

These are the moments that make summer, summer.

And honestly? We wouldn't have it any other way.
